Big boy!

We finally moved N out of his infant carrier and into his big boy car seat. That thing was getting way too heavy to lug around, even if it was a convenient way to keep him snug and warm while it's so cold out. Think he likes his new seat!

Quick update

It's been a very crazy couple of weeks. We are finally in our new house and starting to feel more settled. There is still so much to do, but we are mostly unpacked. Baby N's room was the first finished as I really wanted to have that ready for him to make the move easier.

Two days after we moved in my sister arrived from England. It was so good to see her, but I'm sure she didn't plan on spending so much of her holiday helping with house stuff. I dragged her to different stores and had her putting together furniture. She headed to NYC for a few days break with a friend before finishing her time here with us. Think baby N loved the extra attention, not to mention all the gifts she brought for him....and me. I'm really missing her since she went back and can't wait to see her again - maybe for baby N's big birthday bash!

We also had a major snow storm which meant a snow day for Mommy! And gave us chance to get more stuff done around the house. J also got to test out the snow blower. We all enjoyed watching from the warmth of the house, don't think I'll be volunteering for that job next time it snows.

Once the weather had gotten a little better and the sun was out we took baby N out in his sled. He seemed to love the ride, although with all the snow we had it wasn't that easy to pull. The cold didn't seem to bother him too much. It's amazing to think that next year he'll be exploring the snow under his own steam, not ours. Wonder if he'll be a crier about he cold and snow, like my current charge was until this year at 2 and a half or if he'll love it?!

Other baby N news. He's working on his crawling, mostly backwards at this point! It must be pretty frustrating to get further away from the toy you're trying to reach! He's so good at getting up from his belly to a seated position and manages to get around when his playing on the floor. He's started to sleep on his belly, but hasn't figured out the sitting up part as he's in his sleep sack.
Last night was really rough as he has a nasty cold - lots of coughing and snot. The disadvantage of having him at work with me, I guess. He was up every hour and really crying, hard to console. I ended up in the guest bed with him at 1.30 or 2. We don't usually co-sleep as it makes for not a lot of sleep for the mommies. No matter how little the kid they seem to take up lots of room. I also worry about him rolling out of the bed now that he's moving around so much. But last night I figured some sleep was better than none! I so hope that he feels better soon. Have to figure out whether or not I'm going to work tomorrow....

We're moving!

We closed on the new house today!
It took way longer than I ever imagined - think we first saw our house in Sept or maybe the start of Oct. But it's finally ours. We even started taking some of our stuff over there today and baby N and I will be hanging out there tomorrow while the carpets get cleaned and the cable guy comes.
I'm happy about the house, it is such a great family home and one that gives us plenty of room to grow. But I have to admit that I'm a little sad to be leaving our little 'cottage'. Although this place is way too small, seriously old and in need of some work, it is the house that we brought our little baby home to.

Lunch date

We were supposed to close on our new house today but thanks to some paperwork delay on the sellers part it didn't happen. :-( As J had already taken the day off we decided to make the most of it. We dropped our cranky baby off at his grandparents house and headed to lunch.

After lunch we headed to the local big box home improvement store to pick up some stuff for the new house. Who would have thought that a few years ago a date would involve walking around home depot picking out paint colors, door locks and new toilet seats! Don't think I know anyone in England that buys new toilet seats when they move into a new house, but I guess it happens here! It was a great date, so nice to spend time together and get some things done without the baby. I did feel a little bad for his grandparents as he's been cranky for the last couple of days and probably wasn't the best company! We're not exactly sure what's going on with him, but he hasn't been happy. He could be getting another cold, or tooth, I wish he could tell us what's going on. The result is that he's not sleeping well - waking almost hourly every night and deciding to start his day way too early at around 5. Hopefully it'll get better as he starts to feel better.

We're keeping our fingers crossed that our new closing for Wednesday goes through without a hitch. And that any snow holds off until after we can move. We have things set up for Thursday and Christmas Eve and don't want to have to reschedule them again. We'll start moving on Boxing day. Our aim is to be in before the end of the next week - J is off work until the 3rd and my sister arrives on the 1st so we're going to be busy!

After talking about it for weeks I finally managed to capture N's giggle on video. When we try to get him to giggle for the camera it never works, but the cat always gets the job done!

First tooth

I felt baby N's first tooth this morning! I can't see it yet but when i run my finger over his gum it's definitely there. Our little guy is growing up so fast, he'll be 6 months old in 2 days time. He's rolling all over the place now and often gets himself stuck up against our furniture. Having time on the floor at work is tough as their floors are all wood and stone, with very few rugs. Now that he's rolling he doesn't stay put on his blanket and sometimes bumps his head when he rolls from his tummy to back. I find that i'm carrying him around more or he's sitting in his car seat or the little man's high chair. He has also started to be able to sit for longer periods of time. On Tuesday he sat through most of music class and seemed to enjoy the different viewpoint.

We had a photo session with the lady that took our birth pics on Sun. She took over 200 pictures and i'm slowly working my way through them to find the right one for our Christmas card. N did really well despite being seriously sleep deprived as we'd taken him to lunch with some friends right before. Luckily he loves to be outside so that probably helped to get the pics we did....
